Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Volume Booster handles information when you use the Android app. Volume Booster is an audio utility for media volume control, equalizer effects, live spectrum visualization, local music playback, themes, settings, and optional edge lighting.
Information We Process
Depending on the features you choose, the app may process the following information on your device:
- App preferences: language choice, onboarding status, theme, boost level, boost memory, equalizer state, equalizer band levels, selected preset, vibration intensity, and edge-lighting settings.
- Microphone input: used to calculate a live spectrum visualization. The app does not record, store, upload, or share microphone audio for this feature.
- Local audio files and media metadata: used to list, select, and play audio tracks on your device when you grant media access or choose a file.
- Network state: used to detect whether network connectivity is available or weak for app state messaging.
- Notifications and foreground services: used to show active boost controls, stop actions, and edge-lighting status.
- Overlay permission state: used only when you choose to enable edge lighting over other apps.
- Feedback information: if you contact us by email or another app chosen by you, we receive the information you decide to send, such as your email address, message content, device details, screenshots, or logs you attach.
How We Use Information
- To provide media volume controls, boost controls, equalizer effects, bass boost, virtualizer effects, and local playback.
- To display a live sound spectrum when microphone permission is enabled.
- To remember your settings and restore your preferred app experience.
- To show foreground notifications and quick stop controls while audio boost or edge lighting is active.
- To respond to support requests and improve app stability based on feedback you voluntarily provide.
Permissions
The app may request Android permissions for specific features:
- Modify audio settings: adjusts media volume and supported Android audio effects.
- Microphone: powers the live spectrum feature only when enabled.
- Media audio or external storage: lists and plays local audio tracks, depending on Android version.
- Notifications: shows active boost and edge-lighting controls on supported Android versions.
- Display over other apps: shows the optional edge-lighting overlay.
- Vibration and wake lock: support tactile feedback and active service behavior.
- Internet and network state: support connectivity state checks and future online features, including planned advertising.
Storage and Retention
App preferences are stored locally on your device and remain there until you change them, clear the app data, or uninstall the app. Microphone samples used for spectrum analysis are transient and are not retained by the app. Local audio files remain on your device and are not copied to our servers by Volume Booster.
If you send feedback, we may keep your message for as long as reasonably necessary to reply, troubleshoot, maintain records, and improve the app.
Sharing of Information
In the current version, Volume Booster does not sell your personal information and does not upload microphone audio, local music files, or app preference data to our servers. Information may be shared only when you choose to send it through a feedback channel, when required by law, or when a future third-party service described below is enabled.
Future AdMob Advertising
When AdMob or the Google Mobile Ads SDK is added, Google and its partners may collect, use, and share data to provide, personalize, measure, and secure advertising. Depending on your device, region, consent choices, app configuration, and Google settings, this may include device identifiers such as the Android Advertising ID, IP address, app interactions, approximate location inferred from network information, diagnostic information, crash or performance data, and ad interaction data.
Future advertising features may be used for ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, analytics, measurement, and compliance. Where required, the app will request consent or show privacy choices before using personalized ads. You may be able to limit ad personalization, reset or delete your advertising ID, or manage consent through Android, Google, or in-app privacy settings when available.
Google may process advertising data under its own policies. You can learn more by visiting Google's advertising technologies policy and Google Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure.
Children's Privacy
Volume Booster is not directed to children under 13 or to any age group that requires parental consent under local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
International Data Processing
If you contact us or if a future third-party service such as AdMob is enabled, information may be processed in countries other than your own. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live.
Your Choices
- You can deny optional permissions. Some features, such as live spectrum, local media scanning, notifications, or edge lighting, may not work without their related permission.
- You can disable permissions later in Android system settings.
- You can clear local app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored preferences.
- You can choose what information to include when sending feedback.
- When ads are introduced, you can use available Android, Google, and in-app controls for advertising personalization and consent choices.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, when future services such as AdMob are introduced, or when legal, technical, or business requirements change. The updated version will show a new "Last updated" date.
